Giant Hogweed plant found in Virginia is Toxic! This is NOT Queen Anne's Lace. This hogweed can grow up to 14ft tall, the leaf can be as much as 3 feet wide and the flower over a foot in size. This noxious weed can cause severe burns and if contact occurs near the eyes can cause blindness. If you see this giant weed DO NOT cut it down. Do NOT use any cutting tools or mechanical equipment. The plant must be removed with extreme care, using gloves, eye, face and body protection. If the plant is not removed down to the roots it will grow back quickly. If you see this plant please contact the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation to report it immediately.
